Beautiful new green/white deck + dice.

It was a good day/night. Did some work for the class I hate at World before going to the Magic store with a friend and one of his friends. The nice fellow at the Magic store, upon learning I’d just started playing and hadn’t put together a deck yet, asked me for a price range and put one together for me for $4. I was originally thinking of starting with a red/black, but changed my mind once I got in the store. I think the green/white suits me. They also apparently have a local WoW guild, so once I get a job and real internet again I’ll probably be renewing my account and joining them.
After the Magic store, parted ways with the friend’s friend and went to a local brewery, where we met up with a couple more people. Every other Saturday they show films outside on the side of a truck. (THE 24th IS BLAZING SADDLES, EDMAN. STARTS 15 MINUTES AFTER SUNSET.) Tonight was Metropolis, a silent film from 1927 that I’d actually seen before, because it was on Netflix Instant, and I like to scour Netflix for older movies that look promising. (I just checked, and it’s still there. If you like silent movies, watch it!) It’s a good film, and it always reminds me of the Cybermen from Doctor Who. (Actually, the Cybermen may have been taken from Metropolis — it was a pretty influential film.)
Went back downtown, where I’d left my car, and, in the process of walking with friend to pick up his girlfriend from work, ran into another old friend from high school and chatted for a bit. Now home, and relaxing, even though I came home to a wild cat and two little brown spiders in my bathroom. (My overly-paranoid brain always goes “OH GOD WHAT IF IT’S A BROWN RECLUSE?” and then has to kill the spiders and inspect them closely, even if they don’t really resemble a brown recluse in the slightest. This has not been helped by the fact that a couple of acquaintances of mine here just recently moved out of a house that was infested with them. Ever since hearing that, the “WHAT IF THAT HAPPENS TO ME?” part of my brain has been in overdrive. Those fuckers are scary.)
Cat has now settled down, thankfully, and is sleeping peacefully at my feet. My introverted self is probably going to spend tomorrow at home doing work for my classes and recharging, but it was really a lovely night, filled with geekery, art, and good beer.

Ok, it’s on the calendar - just tell me where to go and what time. I’ll be there.
