I’m rewriting/finishing the novel that I started during NaNoWriMo last year, and I keep stumbling across notes like “[Will need to insert some road time here. Currently too tired to do anything except transcribe, and my lazy ass skipped ahead here.]”

I cut it myself rather than going to the salon — and honestly, I just chop at it until it looks and feels right to me. It needs a trim very badly, though, to get it back in line. I think the first time I got it cut (which I did do in a salon) I asked for a pixie, but she left it a lot longer than I wear it now.

I feel like Beauty Queens is one of those books I’ll like once I get past whatever it is that’s blocking me now (though part of what’s blocking me is the main character). I do that fairly often — definitely did it with A Game of Thrones. So we’ll see. I’m not giving it up as lost for me yet.
Also, I am off tomorrow so yes for meeting up.

If there’s one thing that retail makes glaringly apparent, it’s how utterly self-involved and self-important people can be.

IT’S SO PRETTY AND PINK.
It’s always vaguely surprising how much I connect with John Green’s writing and characters — even the ones that are absolutely nothing like me — but John’s Will Grayson actually is quite a bit like me, and it’s even more strange. I am feeling so many feelings about this character right now.
(For those who haven’t read it, the book follows two Will Graysons — one written by John Green, the other by David Levithan.)
Because I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH.
But I did get my most important errand done (dropping my Chegg rental off at UPS), and I also picked up Terry Pratchett’s Wintersmith (I wanted Hogfather, but they didn’t have a copy) and some eggnog for my EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PLANS tonight.
So I’m going to do a little habitat unfucking and then make Black Bean & Salsa Soup for dinner. Then it is tree-lighting, soup-eating, eggnog-drinking, book-reading time!
Also, the fact that it has been raining all day makes me very happy. It’s very accurate symbolism for what today represents for me. No matter what happens tomorrow or the next day, today I feel joyful and new and full of hope.

OH MY GOD I CAN’T BELIEVE I DIDN’T TELL YOU I FINISHED IT. I FINISHED IT WITHIN 24 HOURS OF STARTING IT!
AND I KNOW! AND I LOVE HOW THE ENTIRE TIME SHE’S REFLECTING ABOUT HOW UNHEALTHY AND UNEQUAL THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS, BUT THEN SHE’S LIKE “FUCK IT, I’LL STAY WITH HIM FOREVER ANYWAY.” BUT YES. THE ENTIRE ENDING WAS JUST…I DON’T EVEN HAVE WORDS. LIKE, EVERY TIME I THOUGHT IT COULDN’T GET MORE OUTLANDISH SHE WAS LIKE “WAIT! IT GETS BETTER!”
I KIND OF WANT TO READ THE ONE THAT CAME BEFORE IT NOW. EVEN THOUGH I THINK WE WERE QUOTED MOST OF IT IN METALLIC LOVE.
I KNOW ALL OF THIS PROBABLY SHOULDN’T BE IN ALL CAPS, BUT I FELT ALL-CAPSY WHEN WRITING IT. THAT IS JUST THE EFFECT THAT METALLIC LOVE HAS ON ME.

Oh, Shark Week. The things you make my body do.
I’m going to spend the day unfucking my habitat and taking care of some responsibilities that have been put off over the past two weeks (groceries, laundry, etc.) so that I can make my home a happier and more relaxing place. Once it gets dark, I’m going to light the tree and some incense and settle down to read a Christmas/Yule themed book with some spiked eggnog.
To put your minds at ease, let it be known that I have read Dealing with Dragons many times. I didn’t want to bring home any (re)reads this time around, since I’m trying to read more new-to-me books.
But let it be known that Steph has not read Dealing with Dragons. Is this a big deal? I keep finding new books I wish I’d put on my wish list for Christmas.

Oh my gods. That was the series I discovered right after I finished destroying all the Nancy Drew and Oz books as a kid. In other words, they were VERY IMPORTANT. They were the books that really got me into fantasy. READ THEM IMMEDIATELY.
I mean, I need the hours, but damn. By the time I get off work I just want to curl up on my couch and not do anything.
Surprise Shark Week is the worst.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT THAT IS SO MUCH MORE WORK THAN JUST TAKING THE TIME TO PICK ONE THING!? Sorry for the allcaps, I am in an annoyed place right now.
I HAVE NO IDEA. Like, if they hadn’t told me that’s what they did, I never would have thought people actually did that. I would have just assumed they changed their mind, and you know, that happens and that’s fine. And they returned the items within two or three hours of purchasing them. They didn’t even take a day to decide or anything.
And I’m pretty sure all caps is warranted in this situation.
When people buy several similar items in order to decide which they want and then return the unwanted ones later the same day.
I haven’t even eaten at a Sonic in 6 months.
What even is this.
(It may be because I didn’t have time to go grocery shopping before work today, so my food supply is looking a little forlorn. I’ve also only had a bagel and a pretzel today. It’s about to be another round of leftover mac & cheese. I REGRET NOTHING.)
The time NOT to get a call from work asking you to come in early is when insomnia kept you up til 5 in the morning.
