I’m rewriting/finishing the novel that I started during NaNoWriMo last year, and I keep stumbling across notes like “[Will need to insert some road time here. Currently too tired to do anything except transcribe, and my lazy ass skipped ahead here.]”
Oh, Past Kendra. Why must you leave tasks like this to Future Kendra? She does not appreciate it.

ladykia replied to your photo: THIS COVER IS AMAZING.
new book or no?
I own a copy of it already, I just happened upon that one whilst wandering the store on my break. My copy does not have an illustration of Neil Gaiman lounging around on it.

Watching Relative Values, and there is so much awesome between Colin Firth and Stephen Fry that I think I may explode.

what do you tell them to do when you get a haircut?
I cut it myself rather than going to the salon — and honestly, I just chop at it until it looks and feels right to me. It needs a trim very badly, though, to get it back in line. I think the first time I got it cut (which I did do in a salon) I...

I can’t answer messages privately on my phone, and I don’t want to publish your ask, SO:
I feel like Beauty Queens is one of those books I’ll like once I get past whatever it is that’s blocking me now (though part of what’s blocking me is the main character). I do that fairly often — definitely did it with A Game of Thrones. So we’ll see. I’m not...

No, YOU’RE yelling aloud at fictional characters.

I am staying up to finish this book because I want to confirm that I am right about who the villain is. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME.

Aaaand 'tis the season for Facebook to explode...
It’s not that I mind that people celebrate traditions that came later. Celebrate what connects with you and what makes you happy!
I just mind the endless “Remember that CHRIST is the reason for CHRISTmas” posts.

More and More by Margaret Atwood
More and more frequently the edges of me dissolve and I become a wish to assimilate the world, including you, if possible through the skin like a cool plant’s tricks with oxygen and live by a harmless green burning. I would not consume you or ever finish, you would still be there surrounding me, complete as the air. Unfortunately I don’t have leaves....

I want to post pictures of what I just did.
But I caaaan’t because it’s a surprise!
As soon as it is possible to do so without spoiling anything, though, pictures will be posted. It was super fun.

If there’s one thing that retail makes glaringly apparent, it’s how utterly self-involved and self-important people can be.

This is now going to be my response when people ask why I don’t want kids.
I really needed time with friends tonight.
Although poor Edman got my I-haven’t-actually-talked-to-another-human-being-outside-of-work-in-forever—and-also-it’s-Shark-Week-and-now-everything-is-spilling-out-randomly-and-in-a-way-that-doesn’t-even-make-sense-to-me word vomit.

I've forsaken my Yuletide book to read Will...
It’s always vaguely surprising how much I connect with John Green’s writing and characters — even the ones that are absolutely nothing like me — but John’s Will Grayson actually is quite a bit like me, and it’s even more strange. I am feeling so many feelings about this character right now.
(For those who haven’t read it, the book follows two Will...

Things did not quite go to plan today.
But I did get my most important errand done (dropping my Chegg rental off at UPS), and I also picked up Terry Pratchett’s Wintersmith (I wanted Hogfather, but they didn’t have a copy) and some eggnog for my EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PLANS tonight.
So I’m going to do a little habitat unfucking and then make Black Bean & Salsa Soup for dinner. Then it is tree-lighting, soup-eating,...

Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice, and I'm EXTREMELY...
I’m going to spend the day unfucking my habitat and taking care of some responsibilities that have been put off over the past two weeks (groceries, laundry, etc.) so that I can make my home a happier and more relaxing place. Once it gets dark, I’m going to light the tree and some incense and settle down to read a Christmas/Yule themed book with some spiked eggnog.

I am craving Sonic SO MUCH right now.
I haven’t even eaten at a Sonic in 6 months.
What even is this.
(It may be because I didn’t have time to go grocery shopping before work today, so my food supply is looking a little forlorn. I’ve also only had a bagel and a pretzel today. It’s about to be another round of leftover mac & cheese. I REGRET NOTHING.)

The time NOT to get a call from work asking you to come in early is when insomnia kept you up til 5 in the morning.
